Last Week

During the last two weeks they have been rehearsing practically in all daily breaks.

But the last week comes and there is something especial to do: especial warm ups, games, voice exercises, body and face expression, music, choreographies...

All is already said. All is already done.
Excitement before
the Performance.

11th Week

Playing animals has always been very successful in class, both in traditional classes and in "other" sort of classes. That's why we have proposed this sketch: "Don't eat me". It's simple, quite simple, but it has "something". It has rythym. It repeats some structures. It's great fun.

But it's time to have a general rehearsal with the puppets

...adding new ideas that have been coming up during the sessions

...reviewing songs and choreographies

 ... solving doubts.

10th Week

We are at the end of November. In three weeks they will perform.  We already need some technicians to control sound and images. Iñigo and David seem to be our best option. They like it.

And we present  new texts. But texts are not only to be read. So, students are made to give the right intonation, the proper movement, the correct body response to  every situation.

As they are feeling more and more confident, they start improvising "gestures", words, reactions, situations...

Having fun and learning at the same time is the secret recipe.

8th and 9th Week

Times passes and the play has got different sketches to be performed by different characters and actors. So, we divide the class into different groups. Each group has got "a director". They rehearse on their own.

We hand out the complete text so that we can rehearse in small groups and learn the third song.

As usual, they receive an incomplete diary to be completed at home.

In Drama Workshop students have been working hard for the whole term.
Here is a collection of the best pictures at the most important moments in class. The pictures have been taken by both teacher and students.

6th and 7th week

As there are a lot of students in class they have to make
three different groups or "companies" to prepare the sketches.

They had their first reading of the script last week, so they know what the plot is about.

Today the teacher presents the characters and makes the students imagine what the characters are like, how they behave in a class situation.

It's time to give small parts to students who read very slowly or are uneasy about reading and give a bigger part to those who feel comfortable with long lines.

They like it and experiment with voices, body language, sponteneous improvisations. And they laugh a lot. That's good.

Fifth Week

After the recording, it is time to start normal classes again.

But on this occassion, a warm up is always welcomed.  In order to review short answers we start by playing the game Who am I?

Then we go on with "Your Majesty", a nice game to modify and falsify different tones of voices.

Finally they are handed out their first script. Excitement appears in the class.
Who will get which part? Will the teacher choose me?
We have the first reading. Everybody wants to take part in it. Lots of hands ask for a role.
As there are too many students, we make three small groups directed by one of them.

Finally, before the time is over, they get the draft of the 4th week Diary.
In the second class of the week we start the classes with a video on You Tube. Then we show some of the recordings. Later, we play a game, on this occassion....

Times passes quicker than we think and we have forgotten music; that's why we …….. the last ten minutes to ………. the first song and to make the first movements, not a ch..r….gr…ph… yet, nor a scene either.

During the second class of the week, we record again. Some play with the puppets, others do interviews. Now they don't have any help from papers or from the teacher. During the ……….time, several students take …. of the session with the camera.

FIRST SCRIPT:
LET'S  ACT :
Interruptions
Interruptions is a nice sketch to begin with. It has got all the typical elements of a class: Desperate teacher, absent-minded students who take any chance to get out of class...

Fourth Week

We start the class watching a slideshow of last week's pictures. We freeze some of them to analyse if they are well framed or not. The students want to watch the recorded videos; but it's not time to do so.
They'll watch them next Thursday.
Again, they get five minutes to prepare the monologues with  the puppets or the interviews.

Then, they go inside The Holy Spot to perform. It's not easy the first time, but they do it.

After that, a new game is required.
This week they play rhythms:

They count the numbers rhythmically in English. Every two numbers, they clap their hands. When they feel it's easy and feel confident, they clap every two numbers, but they snap fingers every three numbers. When they get it, they hit their legs with their hands every five numbers. That's not so easy, but it's very funny thanks to the mistakes they make.

Times passes quicker than they thought and we have forgotten music; that's why we take the last
ten minutes to review the first song and to practise the first movements, not the choreography yet,
 nor a scene; simply movements.

                   Who doubts
                   they are enjoying
            every day's class?

During the second class of the week, after preparing their papers, they are recorded. Some play with the puppets, others do interviews. Now they don't have any help from papers or from the teacher. During the recordings, several students take pictures of the session.
